यम दीपदान भी इसी दिन की परम्परा है, जिस में यम के लिए दीपदान किया जाता है
बाज़ार इस नयी परंपरा को भुना रहा है जो उस के हित में है, प्राचीन परंपरा ना जाने कहाँ रह गयी | अब घर में कुछ नया लाना ही धनतेरस का प्रतीक है |
